time, customers, jobs and traffic

Over 75% of bigger companies cite the time-savings Growth Track 360 would deliver as their primary reason for supporting the campaign. While 64% of smaller firms cite better access to customers.

Around 54% of smaller companies also think better rail services will improve recruitment, and help them expand and create jobs.

Businesses also said the campaign would help reduce traffic on the A55, create better connections to the rest of the UK, and have a positive impact on the environment by reducing diesel train usage.

At its heart, Growth Track 360 is about helping to deliver economic prosperity – ensuring HS2 delivers as much benefit as possible to businesses and people in North Wales, Cheshire and Wirral.

So the next Wales and Borders franchise – which will shape how some of our key rail services are delivered – presents an unmissable opportunity.

We were pleased to contribute to the recent inquiry by the Welsh Affairs Select Committee, and the resulting report contains a number of positive recommendations.

For example, it highlights the importance of incentives and contractual obligations for train operators, modern rolling stock, electrification and upgrades to station facilities.

Many challenges lie ahead, but there are some great opportunities to continue to push for change to rail services across North Wales, Cheshire and Wirral.

Transport is the lifeblood of our regional economy, so if you haven’t added your voice to the campaign yet, please sign-up here.
